Captain Stephen’s love for the outdoors started early, spending weekends fishing with his dad on the Galveston jetties and later from the family’s bay boat. From gathering bait to planning trips, those moments instilled in him a deep respect for the water and the excitement of fishing. He carried that passion into adulthood, taking the boat out on his own as soon as he had a driver’s license. That early connection to the coast shaped the foundation of his career as a professional and experienced fishing guide.

With nearly a decade of guiding experience, Stephen developed a sharp understanding of bait fishing, fish behavior, and the balance it takes to consistently put guests on fish. His hands-on knowledge of the tides, back lakes, and shallow flats around Port O’Connor makes him a trusted local fishing guide on the water. What sets him apart is his dedication to sharing the excitement with others, especially kids who bring curiosity and fresh energy to every trip.

Founded in 2013, Mid Coast Bay Fishing and Duck Hunting reflects Stephen’s dedication to building lasting memories for anglers and hunters alike. Over the years, he has guided guests to redfish tailing in the shallows, speckled trout chasing bait across the flats, and schools of black drum and sheepshead that keep rods bending. His approach is rooted in patience, local expertise, and a true enjoyment of watching others experience the best of Port O’Connor fishing and hunting.

The Boat

Trips are run aboard a 23’ Majek Texas Slam shallow water boat powered by a Evinrude 200 2-stroke outboard, a versatile platform designed for both comfort and reliability plus the shallow running demanded by our bay system. With space for up to four guests, it’s a practical choice for families, friends, or small groups looking to fish together. Outfitted with quality gear and light tackle setups, the boat ensures anglers of all ages and skill levels can enjoy time on the water. Paired with Captain Stephen’s knowledge of Port O’Connor, it provides the perfect setting for safe, memorable adventures along the Texas coast.

DEPOSIT: A deposit is required for all bookings and will be applied at checkout

BALANCE: The remaining balance is due on the trip date as either CASH AP, VENMO or Cash.

GUEST CANCELLATION: In the event that you must cancel your booking, you must do so 3 days prior to your trip date to receive a refund on your deposit. Rescheduling is encouraged and dependent on guide availability.

GUIDE CANCELLATION: In the rare event that your guide must cancel due to inclement weather, health, or equipment issues, you will have the option to reschedule your charter for a later date or receive a refund on your deposit.

TIPPING: Tips to your guide are greatly appreciated for your quality trip and are customarily $50 to $150 per trip and should be based on your enjoyment of the guide and efforts to put you on fish.

The Port O'Connor and Seadrift areas offer the very best of the Texas coastal waters. I have fished and duck hunted extensively up and down the Texas coast and can tell you this area truly has it all - shell, hard sand, shallow mug, deep mud, clear flats, deep grassy, back bays, deep holes you name it the Middle Texas Coast, specifically our area has it all.
